This 5 day course is designed for people with little or no experience or understanding of Slinger Signaller and provides more dedicated support to help candidates through the Theory and practical elements

This 4 day course is designed for people with limited experience or understanding

(A40) Slinger Signaller Experienced Worker Refresher

This 3 day course is a condensed course for people with experience of slinging and signalling who need a formal qualification. If you have limited or no experience we would recommend our full four-day or five-day courses.

(A40a) Slinger Signaller Foundation Plus

Duration:

The Slinger/Signaller course is designed to give you the knowledge required to direct the crane using recognised signalling systems, and to ensure that loads are ‘as safe in the air as they are on the ground’.

We have now developed a ‘Foundation Plus course which is five days in duration. This will give candidates more practical training time to give greater preparation for the CPCS Practical Test, and to enhance post-course knowledge and skills and is designed for candidates with no site experience.

The learning outcomes include:

✓ Key requirements for marshalling of plant
✓ Controlling loads during pick-and-carry duties
✓ Knowledge of when additional skills for particular lifting operations are required.
✓ Establish the weight and dimensions of loads and communicate this information to the crane operator.
✓ Select appropriate lifting tackle and attach and detach it correctly and safely.
✓ Use clear and unambiguous signals to direct the actions of a crane moving loads of various weights and dimensions.
✓ Determine the serviceability of lifting accessories, and maintain and store them.

Further Learning:

The course must be followed up by an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller (Construction), within two years. This will award you with a CPCS Competent Operator card for Slinger/Signaller.
After gaining experience within lifting operations you may wish to progress to attending a Crane Supervisor or Appointed Person course.

Entry Requirements

✓ CITB Health, safety and environment test passed no more than two years before the course start date.

Qualifications received

✓ CPCS trained operator (red) card on passing the CPCS technical tests.
