In late 2013, Liam was appointed as Managing Director for Emerson, having worked in the business for over 17 years in a range of roles in that time including; Mobile Crane Operator, Hire Desk Manager, Transport Manager, HSQE Manager and Operations Director giving him invaluable experience in the Crane Hire industry.

As Finance Director, Chris supports the senior leadership team and develops strategy to guide key business initiatives. His focus is to establish a financial strategy for the profitable long-term growth of the business.
Syed Sabeel - ACMA CGMAFinancial Controller
Syed joined Emerson in April 2017, as Financial Controller, with a background in Financial Services and the Construction industry. Highly qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree from Queen Mary University of London and a qualified Chartered Management Accountant, he has developed and improved internal controls and financial reporting since joining the business. As a member of the senior leadership team, his role involves both management of the finance team as well as developing financial awareness within the business through budgets, systems, processes and KPIs.
Danny WilliamsSales & Marketing Director
Danny is an experienced sales professional with a passion for working with people. He has a strong background in sales with over 8 years of experience covering a variety of customer service, business development and account management roles predominantly in the equipment rental industry.
He joined the business in July 2017 to shape and drive our Sales & Marketing function as Emerson continues to grow, raise our brand awareness and support our customers as the industry leaders for Mobile Crane Hire, Training and Transport.
Robbie JacksonOperations & Technical Director
Robbie has been in the crane hire industry for 31 years since leaving school at 15, and has worked for Emerson for most of his career.
Starting as a Trainee Fitter and rising through the structure with roles such as Mobile Crane Operator, Slinger Signaller, Lift Supervisor and Appointed Person, he was subsequently appointed to a Director 22 years ago, in March 1995.
Robbie’s current role is in the capacity of Operations & Technical Director overseeing a multitude of sectors which includes the Operations Team, Technical Team, Engineers, Hire Desk, and all Operational Personnel both based at our depots and field based operatives.
Jonathan CallowCompliance Director
Before joining Emerson in 2009, Jonathan had a background in Transport and Safety Management. When he joined Emerson as Transport Manager, Jonathan also took on the Health and Safety responsibilities for the company.
Since early 2017 Jonathan proudly fulfils the position of Compliance Director and is responsible for making sure we are demonstrating best practice throughout our departments.
With Health & Safety at the heart of what Emerson does and as part of our ‘Lifting Safety Standards’ ethos, Jonathan oversees our Health and Safety, Environment and Quality Management systems as we continue to strive to ensure we are the best we can possibly be in everything we do.
Arnella WilliamsHR and L&D Manager
Arnella is a qualified Associate CIPD HR Manager and is part of the senior leadership team. She plays a pivotal role in helping to shape the HR business strategies to support the long-term goals of the business.
With 17 years of extensive experience within HR as well as Learning and Development, Arnella is a passionate and innovative professional. She has spent 15 years within the retail industry, managing and supporting the business through several acquisitions resulting in restructurings and TUPE changes. She has also been a key player in the change management processes within the organisation.
Her passion lies with developing and mentoring people and believes that the time invested in people through mutual respect and work – life balance will improve employee satisfaction and retention, ultimately delivering on the business achieving its goals.

Anthony PattisonKey Account Manager
Anthony previously worked for Hewden before moving to Emerson in 2014. With extensive knowledge in the plant and crane hire industry, he has the experience and knowledge to deliver all elements of this role.
Anthony works closely with our key accounts, building strong relationships and providing the appropriate support as the Stakeholder for Emerson to deliver their projects safely and efficiently.
Wayne CarrHire Desk Manager - East London
Wayne has worked in the crane hire industry for over twenty years in various roles ranging from Slinger to Appointed Person and gained experience working with cranes up to 1000 tonnes.
As Hire Desk Manager, his current role is to ensure the smooth operation of the Hire Desk and Operations teams to ensure best utilisation of both cranes and personnel on a day to day basis.
Working to achieve often tight deadlines and exceed our customers’ expectations by delivering a high level of customer service, we work as one team to make it happen.
Ian DolbyHire Desk Manager - West London
Ian has worked for an international wood finishing company as the UK Operations Manager for five years before entering the crane hire industry as a Mobile Crane Operator. Operating cranes for a steel erecting company for eight years, he then joined Emerson to progress his career within a specialist equipment rental business. Ian has progressed to complete a number of other operational roles within Emerson including Lift Supervisor and Appointed Person.
Ian now provides support for our East London Depot Operations and Hire Desk as well as overseeing the expansion and development of our West London Depot to improve our level of customer support and market share.
Stuart KempService Manager
As Service Manager, ensuring the safety, maintenance and availability of our fleet whilst maintaining a safe working environment for our Engineers is a top priority for Stuart.
With over 20 years’ experience, Stuart has a strong interest in anything mechanical and has been heavily involved in the service aspect of the business from a young age and has experienced with commercial tyre fitting, lorry and heavy plant maintenance and finally cranes. In addition to this, Stuart has built up a strong portfolio of qualifications over the years such as NEBOSH NGC 1, 2 and 3 in Health & Safety, IOSH Managing Safely and Thorough examinations in Cranes and Lifting accessories to name a few.
Gavin DawsonTransport Manager
Gavin started at his own family business from a young age, run by his father, which was a container haulage company. After leaving school, he completed an apprenticeship with Mercedes-Benz Trucks as a Technician before returning to the family business being based in their Southampton depot.
After 9 years in the company, taking on a number of roles within reach, Gavin had amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience so decided to move on to his next challenge.
Gavin has experience in the plant and crane hire industry and as Transport Manager, he is responsible for all aspects of the companies’ transport function including our Operators Licence, compliance and accreditations, Driver recruitment and management as well as managing our fleet.
Richard WatkinsonSenior Appointed Person
Richard is the Senior Appointed Person within the company, overseeing and managing the Technical Department.
Richard has been in the industry since 1999 and has experience as a Mobile Crane Operator, Slinger/Signaller and Lift Supervisor, finally moving on to an Appointed Person.
He has a wealth of experience within the industry working within COMAH tier 1 sites, major infrastructure and civils projects.
Richard heads a team of Appointed Persons who together liaise closely with our other departments to deliver our customers projects with the safest and most appropriate crane and technical expertise in the industry.
